Window Tinting

Window tinting is the ‘aftermarket’ application of a tinted plastic film to one or more of a vehicle’s windows. In addition to the aesthetic appeal it provides, 1-800-DENT DOC associates’ window tinting can actually increase a vehicle’s value by blocking out harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation and solar heat that gradually damage and fade a vehicle’s interior. From a health perspective, blocking as much as 99% of the damaging UV rays from the sun can reduce the potential for skin cancer.

The application of window tinting can actually improve your overall driving safety by minimizing hazardous glare from sun, snow, and other headlights. As an added safety feature, films add shatter resistance which helps keep glass intact on impact. The increased privacy provided by tinted windows can also serve as a deterrent for potential thieves.

Although there are many types of window films, certain features are fairly standardized. For example, most types of window films consist of multiple layers of film bonded together. One side of the film is coated with an adhesive and the other is treated with a scratch-resistant coating. UV blockers are provided to filter out ultraviolet radiation, and dyes and reflective metals are included to produce certain characteristics. In combination, they complement each other.

By offering an assortment of the latest colors from which to choose, you are able to produce your own desired effect. Varying the shade of your color selection enables you to either enhance or tone down the result. Window tinting can be applied as a single enhancement or in combination with other features.

All films are guaranteed not to flake, peel, or bubble for as long as you own your vehicle. There is no aftercare or special maintenance required. After 30 days the window(s) can be cleaned with a mild solution of soap and water. To keep it smooth and fingerprint resistant, applying a coat of furniture polish to the film is also recommended.

The professional application of window tinting requires thorough preparation and precision cutting. Window tinting is an art, and it should only be entrusted in the hands of competent automotive window tinters.
