Through the use of innovative wheel refinishing techniques, wheels with varying degrees of damage can be repaired and refinished.

When a wheel has been rubbed or scraped against a curb, typically the damage is minimal and involves repairing only the outer portion of the rim. When damage involves fading or peeling of the clear coat due to curb abrasion, it generally results in damage to the front portion of the wheel. If severe damage or a color change is involved, the wheel may require complete refinishing.

Prior to starting the repair process, the wheel must first be thoroughly assessed for trueness and structural integrity. If the wheel is structurally sound, the rim can then be heated, straightened, and re-trued. The repair and refinishing process consists of a series of steps.

During the welding phase, any damaged areas such as scrapes and dings are repaired. Due to the extreme temperatures and quality of aluminum used in the process, the strength of the rebuilt portion of the wheel generally surpasses the original wheel casting.

The wheel is then placed in a computerized lathe so the surface of the rim can be scanned. The precise measurements of the wheel are digitally recorded and stored in memory. The lathe is then used to remove any remaining surface blemishes on the rim.

In the refinishing phase, the wheel is meticulously prepped and painted. Following the painting process, the wheel is thoroughly cleaned and a layer of clear coat is applied. The clear coating bonds to the aluminum and produces a transparent finish.
